THE HISTORY OF ANTICA COLONIA BEGINS IN 1952
The imposing building was constructed toward the end of the 18th century.
Cottolengo Family
1800
Upon his death, Don Riccardo left the property as a bequest to the Cottolengo of Turin, an institution that still exists today and provides care for people with physical and mental disabilities.
De Angeli Frua family
1900
Owner of several manufacturing industries in the areas of Milan and Lake Orta.
The De Angeli Frua family renovated the building, using part of it as a summer camp for the children of their employees and part for silkworm farming during the winter season. A century-old tree at the foot of the building still stands today as a witness to that activity.

The Manini-Maulini family used it privately for many years, until their daughter Elda, with the collaboration of her husband Guido and daughters Monica and Valentina, oversaw its renovation for tourist use.
